All of the enrolment and induction event details for the School of Mathematics.

Undergraduate enrolment

Prior to arrival in Cardiff, new students are invited to complete online enrolment to confirm address details and payment of tuition fees. It is requested that new students do not attempt to complete the module selection process at the conclusion of online enrolment, since we wish to give you advice on the module choices you have once you have arrived in Cardiff at the end of September.

New year one Mathematics students are expected to attend the following events during enrolment week:

  • Tuesday 26 September at 14:00 in Room E/0.15, Maths Building: Introductory Talk
  • Thursday 28 September at 14:00: Meet your Personal Tutor Session
  • Thursday 28 September at 14:30 in Room E/0.15: Mathematics Induction Programme (part 1)
  • Friday 29 September at 10:00 in E/0.15: Mathematics Induction Programme (part 2)
  • Friday 29 September at 14:00 in E/0.15: Mathematics Induction Programme (part 3). (Some Joint Honours students might not be able to attend one of these Friday sessions due to Induction activities in your other department.)

Students who are starting on our BA Joint Honours degree schemes with Music will also need to read the School of Music enrolment information to find out details of events you are also expected to attend. Similarly, students starting on one of our BSc Joint Honours Mathematics/Physics degree scheme should read enrolment information provided by Cardiff School of Physics and Astronomy.

All year two Mathematics students are required to attend a year two briefing session on Thursday 28 September at 11:00 in Room E/0.15.

At this session, we will be providing you with important information and documentation regarding your year two studies, together with additional information relating to learning and teaching. This session is expected to last a maximum of two hours.

All year three Mathematics students are required to attend a year three briefing session on Wednesday 27 September at 11:00 in Room E/0.15.

At this session, we will be providing you with important information and documentation regarding your year three studies, together with additional information relating to learning and teaching. This session is expected to last a maximum of two hours.

All year four (MMath) students are required to attend a year four briefing session on Wednesday 27 September at 09:30 in Room M/2.06.

At this session, we will be providing you with important information and documentation regarding your year four studies.

All Exchange/Erasmus students wishing to study Mathematics modules are asked to come to Room M/0.37 in the School of Mathematics, Senghennydd Road on Thursday 28 September at 09:30.

This meeting will be an opportunity for you to meet with School staff to discuss and select the Mathematics modules you will be studying whilst here in Cardiff.

Postgraduate enrolment and induction

An induction programme for students commencing our MSc degree schemes Operational Research and Applied Statistics; Operational Research, Applied Statistics and Financial Risk; and Data Science and Analytics will take place on Tuesday 26, Wednesday 27 and Friday 28 September (09:30 to 16:00 each day).

Students should come to Lecture Room M/0.40 on the ground floor of the Mathematics Institute for the first induction session at 09:30 on Tuesday 26 September.

All new postgraduate research students are asked to attend our postgraduate research student induction session to be held on Monday 2 October at 13:00 in Room M/2.01 (MAGIC Room).

Continuing postgraduate research students only need to complete online enrolment. There will be no requirement to attend any enrolment event in the School.
