Central European Music Research Centre

The Central European Music Research Centre (CEMRC) is a leading centre for the study of the music of Central and East-Central Europe. Its aim is to provide a musicological resource and forum for academics, performers and composers. The current emphasis is on the musical culture of the territories now covered by Austria, the Balkans, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Russia and Slovakia, with potential for research projects on other countries of the region, such as the Baltic States, Belarus and Ukraine.

CEMRC offers research opportunities to academics and students from other institutions. It has dedicated study facilities, extensive holdings of published and unpublished materials (books, journal and newspaper articles, scores and recordings). Its hard-copy documentation is supplemented by online translations and database projects. The Centre welcomes approaches from individuals and organisations interested in collaborative research projects.

CEMRC also offers a wide range of specialist expertise in research-led teaching and supervision at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Students, staff and visitors from home and abroad participate in a developing programme of seminars, study days and conferences.
