The School of Music has established a platform for interdisciplinary collaboration in research both within and beyond Cardiff University.

Our leading research centre, Cardiff Interdisciplinary Research in Opera and Drama (CIRO), allows us to consolidate the critical mass of operatic research expertise within the School and to facilitate collaboration with professional practitioners.

The recently established Cardiff University British Music Research Centre (CUBRIT) is working to promote and advance research of twentieth and twenty-first century British art music at a national and international level.

Cardiff French Music Research (CFMR)

Internationally recognised for its research excellence in French Music of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, Cardiff University School of Music has established a centre for French Music Research (CFMR) to promote the study of music in France from the seventeenth to the twenty-first centuries.
