BBC Music Fellowship awarded to Cardiff alumnus

Carlos del CuetoCarlos del Cueto, who graduated from the School of Music in 2005, has been awarded one of the inaugural Music Fellowships from the BBC Performing Arts Fund.

19 Fellowships have been awarded to music organisations across the UK to host bespoke placement opportunities.

Carlos will be Spring 2013 Assistant Conductor with English Touring Opera, where he will work under the guidance of professional mentors and provide support to the season’s three principal conductors, including rehearsing cover singers and acting as a stand-by conductor for all three of the company’s main-stage operas.

Following his undergraduate degree, Carlos completed his PhD at Clare College, Cambridge, focusing on historical aspects of nineteenth-century Italian opera. He is currently Junior Fellow in Conducting at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM).
