Seattle Symphony Commission
The line-up for the recently announced Seattle Symphony 2012-13 season includes the world premiere of a new piece commissioned from Dr Arlene Sierra.
The piece, called Moler, will be conducted by Ludovic Morlot at Seattle’s Benaroya Hall on 26 October 2012.
This season marks the Symphony’s 110th year and the second for Music Director Ludovic Morlot. The Symphony is recognized for its innovative programming and, from September through July, is heard live by more than 315,000 people.
During the month of October, Morlot and the Orchestra will be presenting the second year of Sonic Evolution, a project celebrating the past and future of Seattle’s music scene. As well as performances from local bands, the Orchestra will be performing newly commissioned symphonic compositions inspired by Alice in Chains, Blue Scholars and Yes, including Sierra’s Moler, as well as compositions by Ken Hesketh and Alexandra Gardner.
