Llandaff Cathedral concert
The Cardiff University Chamber Choir and Symphony Orchestra will be at Llandaff Cathedral this weekend for their first performance in the 2012/13 Concert Series.
The programme features Kodály’s Missa Brevis, Verdi’s Overture: La Forza Del Destino, the composer’s reworking of the prelude to the opera he considered to be one of his finest works, and Dvořák ‘s Symphony no.8 in G, op.88, a wealth of melody, representing the composer in his happiest and most congenial mood.
Tickets for the concert at 7.30pm on Saturday 27th October are available through a bilingual box office on 03700101051 or online at www.ticketsource.co.uk/cardiffmusic . Entry is free for Cardiff students and under 18s.
The Chamber Choir will be conducted by John Hugh Thomas, the Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by Mark Eager, and the concert will also feature organist Robert Court.
Saturday’s concert also forms part of Cardiff University’s Creative Minds Festival, a varied cultural programme of public lectures, concerts, recitals, and exhibitions. The Creative Minds website has all the up-to-date information on the entire programme.
