Welcoming music librarians
Delegates from across the UK and Ireland will be visiting Cardiff for an Annual Study Weekend organised by the International Association of Music Libraries (UK & Irl).
The School of Music is providing a venue for the Weekend and a number of familiar names appear on the programme.
The conference takes place 13 – 16 April 2012. Professor David Wyn Jones, Head of School, will deliver the Keynote Address on the opening night, following a welcome reception and an introduction to the weekend from Graham Muncy, Conference Committee Chair, and Richard Chesser, President of IAML (UK & Irl).
Professor Jones will also be presenting a panel on a start-to-finish look at widening access to Cardiff University’s score collections.
Joining Professor Jones on the conference programme are Dr Sarah Hill, who will be presenting on Welsh Pop Music, and Professor Rachel Cowgill, who will be presenting on English Eisteddfods.
The line-up for the conference includes a range of other talks and events including project reports, an evening keyboard recital, a Publishers’ Exhibition, a Music Library Advocacy workshop, the IAML (UK & Irl) Annual General Meeting, a look at the hidden messages in early 19th century Celtic song collections, and a presentation on the future of libraries.
