Jolivet on the airwaves
Dr Caroline Rae joined broadcaster Katie Derham on BBC Radio 3 earlier this week to discuss the life and work of composer Andre Jolivet.
Katie Derham has been presenting a series of concerts by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, including a special focus on music by the twentieth-century French composer. Caroline appeared on the first programme in the three-part series (Monday 9 January 2012).
Jolivet was the subject of a recent composer portrait in Cardiff, with an afternoon of discovery at the School of Music, followed by a BBC Radio 3 broadcast concert from Hoddinott Hall. The concert – by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales under Pascal Rophé with soloists Marc Coppey (cello) and Jaroslaw Augustiniak (bassoon) – also featured on Monday’s radio programme.
If you missed Caroline’s interview or would like to hear pieces from the concert (including Jolivet’s Bassoon Concerto), you can still listen online.
