Appointment of Dr Sarah Hill

The School of Music is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Sarah Hill to a Lectureship in Music from August 2007. Dr Hill will be teaching undergraduate modules on popular music and other topics, including 'Woman in Popular Music' (new in 2007-08). She will also be contributing to the School's taught and research postgraduate programmes.
Dr Hill is a graduate of the University of California Santa Cruz, the University of Chicago, and Cardiff University, where she earned her PhD (2002). From 2002 to 2007 she was a Lecturer in Music at Southampton University. Her research interests include Welsh-language popular music, the role of the female voice in social movements, intertextuality in the work of the progressive rock band Genesis, and popular music and the counterculture in San Francisco in the 1960s.
