Beard & Gloag: new edition of musicology book
February 2011
Since its first publication by Routledge in 2005, Musicology: The Key Concepts has become established as a central reference work for music students in universities, colleges and conservatoires throughout the world.
Many musicologists have highlighted their use of the book as a key teaching resource and, as recently cited by Lawrence Kramer, it is seen as an effective survey of the discipline. Students continue to emphasise how important the book has become within their own development.
Comments posted on Amazon describe the book in highly positive terms. For one reader it is ‘perfect for an undergraduate music student’ while another reader states that ‘I was recommended this book by a lecturer at University and it is perfect for any music student. Easy to use and very informative, it is just the thing for any budding musicologists out there. Well worth the money.’
Now David Beard and Kenneth Gloag have agreed a contract with Routledge to write a new, revised edition of the book. The new edition will include further concepts and all existing material will be substantially revised. It is hoped that it will appear in late 2013.
