AHRC Fellowship awarded to Sarah Hill

March 2011

Dr Sarah Hill has been awarded a grant of £74,000 by the AHRC for her research project, A Cultural History of Popular Music in San Francisco, 1965-69.

The nine-month fellowship will allow Dr Hill to continue her field research on the 1960s hippie community in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco, and to complete her monograph, San Francisco and the Long 60s -- part oral history of the counterculture, part musicological investigation of psychedelia and its aftermath.
