The School of Music at Cardiff University is delighted to announce that it will be hosting the annual conference of the British Forum for Ethnomusicology in Cardiff University, April 9-12 2008. Featuring presentations by scholars from Africa, Europe, North America, South America and the Middle East, this conference will look at the art of music in a number of distinctive cultural contexts and from a range of different theoretical perspectives.
In particular, the School of Music is happy to welcome Professor Mark Slobin (Wesleyan University), Professor Ali Jihad Racy (UCLA), Professor Tina Ramnarine (Royal Holloway), Professor Martin Stokes (Oxford University) and Professor John Baily (Goldsmiths) amongst others who will provide a unique insight into musical aesthetics from a cross-cultural perspective.
