New commission for Max Charles Davies
Max Charles Davies, one of Cardiff University's PhD students in composition, has received a commission to write a Concerto for Orchestra. Max is one of two winners of a Young Composers Award run in 2008 by the Aldworth Philharmonic Orchestra in Reading. He will write his new piece for performance in January 2010. Coincidentally, the founder and conductor of the Aldworth Philharmonic Orchestra is Andrew Taylor, a BMus graduate of Cardiff University in 2001. Max's future plans include a recording in March 2009 of his Violin Concerto, with Rhys Watkins and the Cardiff Sinfonietta, conducted by Jonathan Mann.
