Lecture Rooms
Students in the LLT
There are two main lecture rooms: the Large Lecture Theatre (LLT) and Small Lecture Room (SLR), located above the Music Library. Large classes also sometimes takes place in the Concert Hall or the Octagon Foyer. Small classes take place in other rooms and individual or small group tutorials tend to be held in staff rooms.
The LLT, accessed from the 2nd floor, occupies the core of the main building and seats up to 88 students in raked seating with desks. It is fully equipped with audio equipment (CD, MD, LP or cassette) plus video and DVD. There is a computer console with linked projector, standard OHP machines and a grand piano. The LLT is also used for rehearsals (mainly choral).
The brand-new Boyd Lecture Theatre
The SLR, accessed from the 1st floor, is next to the LLT and seats 24-30. It, too, is fully equipped, with audio-visual equipment, grand piano and harpsichord. The floor area is flat, with movable tables, thus making it suitable also for smaller seminars, meetings and ensemble rehearsals. The John Bird Lectures are also held here, on four or five Tuesdays each semester at 16.30.
