Degree Programmes
Undergraduate
Cardiff School of Mathematics offers students a wide choice of degree schemes covering all aspects of mathematics, and it provides a sound training for a very broad range of careers. The following undergraduate degree courses are offered:
- Mathematics (BSc)
- Mathematics (MMath)
- Mathematics and its Applications (BSc)
- Mathematics, Operational Research and Statistics (BSc)
as well as a number of Joint Honours degree programmes which combine the study of Mathematics with another discipline.
Students on the BSc Mathematics and its Applications and the BSc Mathematics, Operational Research and Statistics courses have the opportunity to spend a 'year in industry' as a salaried employee with an employer approved by the School in the third year or a 4-year sandwich degree programme if they wish.
Cardiff School of Mathematics is involved in the teaching of Preliminary Year Mathematics Modules. Mathematics modules are also available for study on degree schemes that allow Free Standing Modules.
Postgraduate
Cardiff School of Mathematics postgraduate programmes offer a variety of postgraduate course, both taught and research based. Our distinctive and intellectually exciting range of courses offer a pathway for students to be creative and expressive within an interpersonal envrionment and active academic and professional networks.
Postgraduate Research

The School offers supervision towards the research degrees of MPhil and PhD in the principal research areas.
Postgraduate Taught
The School offers two MSc courses in Operational Research and Applied Statistics, and Operational Research, Applied Statistics and Risk.
