What is Widening Access?
The process of Widening Access involves activities that encourage and support people who have the ability, motivation and potential to succeed at university, but who may not have considered it an option in life. At the Centre for Lifelong Learning we mainly focus on adults learning either in the community or FE colleges who are currently under-represented at university. In collaboration with Community First Partnerships, other organizations and learning providers, we aim to help people realise their potential as they consider progression into and success at Cardiff University.
Our current activities:
- Live Local Learn Local – Up to 40 FREE short courses will deliver attractive and flexible learning opportunities.
- Help for Mature Students – Returning to learning.
- Student Tutor Project – Working with inner city schools and colleges.
- A-level master classes – Combining academic subject support just before exams along with advice and guidance regarding careers.
- Data Analysis – Developing our ability to support both our strategic direction and Retention strategy with regard to our Widening Access activities.
