Next steps
All of our courses are accredited and have inspired many students to progress with their education including further study at Cardiff University.
Choices
CHOICES is Cardiff University’s programme of part-time courses for the general public. It includes a wide range of subjects at a variety of levels from absolute beginners to expert, depending on the topic. All our courses are part-time and most are open to anyone without prior qualifications. Every year more than 4,000 people, from all walks of life and of all ages, study with us.
Pathways to a degree
Pathways to Progression have been developed in History and Social Sciences and are made up of six 10 credit courses. It is equivalent to 50% of the first year of a degree and is intended to provide you with basic skills and intellectual preparation for your chosen degree
Unlike A Level or Access routes, the Pathways will be taught and assessed in similar ways to first year undergraduate courses and will provide you with first-hand experience of studying at degree level in a vibrant Higher Education environment. Even better, you don’t need any prior qualifications to get started.
All students who successfully complete a Pathway will automatically qualify for an interview onto either a full-time or part-time degree scheme.
Pathways for Progression: Opening Doors for Adult Learners
The Pathways for Progression project enables adult learners to access undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at Cardiff University. Over the past few years the Centre for Lifelong Learning has been collaborating with Academic Schools within the University to develop two Pathways: Exploring the Past (with the School of History, Archaeology and Religion), and more recently Pathway to Social Science (with the School of Social Sciences). The Centre is currently working to increase the number of Pathways we offer to six by the end of the 2013/14 period.
