Geneviève Kinnafick, MA (France), FHEA, DPSI
Geneviève gained her degree and MA in Translation (distinction) from the Université Paul Valéry, Montpellier, France.
She started her career as a translator for an irrigation company in her home town of Nimes.
When she moved to South Wales, she obtained the final diploma (distinction) of the Institute of Linguists, London. She is on the WITS register.
She worked as a translator and interpreter for numerous local companies such as Alcan, Parrot and the Police Force and ran her own company on a free-lance basis for 10 years. Furthermore, she designed and delivered a large number of tailored courses for businesses in the area (Patent Office, BS etc..), specializing in Business French and in advanced level courses.
As an active member of staff of the Centre for Lifelong Learning since the 1980s, she has developed numerous courses, both cultural and linguistic, encouraging adult and undergraduate students to gain recognized international qualifications (DELF –DALF) from the French Ministry of Education. She has a particular interest in the lively conversation classes that she has been running for some years.
Since 2000, she has also been teaching the undergraduate students from Cardiff Business School, from Yr 1 to Yr 4 for which she is the sole tutor. Her work extends to Free Standing Modules and preparing undergraduate students for the prestigious qualification DFP Affaires B2 of the Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie de Paris.
In 1997, she joined the School of European Studies (EUROS), delivering courses for undergraduate students from Yr1 to Yr4 as well as the Business French module. She has also acted as convenor for the Business and Administration specialized module, part of the MA in Translation Studies, EUROS.
Geneviève is also the author of a PGCE module titled, “The teaching of languages” (2003), University of Newport.
