Rachel was awarded her PhD in 2013, and currently works as an associate lecturer at Cardiff University’s School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies, and as a post-doctoral researcher in the department of Psychosocial Studies at Birkbeck, University of London. She is also an associate fellow of the Higher Education Academy. With a BA (Hons) in Film Studies, and an MA (Distinction) in Forensic Linguistics, Rachel’s passion for language and communication is both academic and personal, and her expertise has been refined during several years teaching a variety of University modules, and working on funded research projects alongside senior staff.
Having also previously spent 15 years working in the public sector Rachel has many years’ experience of designing and producing effective written documents for a wide range of business-related purposes, tailoring these specifically to the demands of their intended readers. She is a successful and well-respected teacher, who inspires confidence amongst her students, encouraging them to develop their writing skills in a thoroughly professional (and yet friendly) environment.
