Social Justice and Local Government Minister, Carl Sargeant, visited Splott Methodist Church to meet students on the Women into Making a Difference and Public Life programme.

The Minister heard from students on the programme, organised by Cardiff University’s Centre for Lifelong Learning and Splott Communities First, about the achievements they have made since attending the courses.
He commended the women for their work and the differences they have already made to their own lives as well as others and encouraged them to keep it up. He was also very interested in learning where their political strength came from and the reasons why they joined the programme.

The Minister said, “This group is so important. You all have such strong beliefs and reasons to want to make positive changes. If you think you can, and you want to, there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t be in politics and put yourself forward. I wasn’t special or any different from anybody else. I was just a person that wanted to make a positive future and environment for my daughter and others people’s daughters and sons to grow up in.”
