We will ease you in gently…
- Begin your studies in the friendly and informal environment at Cardiff Centre for Lifelong Learning where you will be allocated a personal tutor who will advise you throughout your entire degree until you graduate.
- You will work in a small group of around 20 students so you always have personal support.
- You will visit main undergraduate lectures in the School of Social Sciences so you become familiar and comfortable with undergraduate studies.
- There will also be guest lectures from experts in the field.

Pathway to Social Science Courses
Contemporary Issues in Social Science - Sociology
Contemporary Issues in Social Science will focus your studies on contemporary society. During this term we will look at the media and how they impact on different groups in society, the changing cultures within our society, the participation and relationship society has to politics. This is a highly interactive course, taught through a mix of tutor-led lectures and group workshops. There are two day schools which must be attended and an on-line forum which encourages participation and engagement with all important study skills.
Exploring Social Science - Education and Society
Exploring Social Science will take you into the academic world to understand the society that we live in. We will use case studies to explore issues such as class and identity, crime and punishment, new forms of work and employment, and education policy. This is a highly interactive course, taught through a mix of tutor-led lectures and group workshops. There are two day schools which must be attended and an on-line forum which encourages participation and engagement with all important study skills.
Pathway to Social Science
Successful completion of the third double module in the Pathways programme willensure that you are confident and ready to move on to the next stage of learning for your degree. In this module, you will engage in individual research, group discussions and mock examinations. We will visit lectures and events held in the main School and have guest specialist lectures at the Centre. This is a highly interactive course, taught through a mixof tutor-led lectures and group workshops. There are two day schools which must be attended and an on-line forum which encourages participation and engagement with all important study skills.
