Structure of the Pathway
The Our Media, Our World pathway is made up of six 10-credit courses, and is the equivalent of 50% of the first year of a degree. Its aim is to provide you with the skills and knowledge to undertake a degree in Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies at Cardiff University.
The pathway consists of one core module which has to be passed in order to complete the pathway. The core module has been created to help you to develop the academic and discipline specific skills which you would need in order to be successful at degree level. It will introduce you to how to undertake independent research, structure your ideas, synthesise information into your own words, and communicate these ideas in writing.
You also have the choice to complete 5 out of 6 optional modules which will cover an engaging and fascinating area of journalism, media and cultural studies. In taking these modules you will gain knowledge and experience of academic work and study which will prepare you to move onto a degree. The other route would be to undertake 4 out of the 6 optional modules and one module from Choices.
