This course aims to:
- Deepen and enhance the student’s knowledge of Spanish language through the study of different types of texts and the application of the new grammar rules.
- Improve both the passive (reading/ listening) skills as well as the active ones (writing/speaking) by practising in the class.
- Improve the student’s literary skills, as well as their ability to express opinions in Spanish.
- Improve the student’s grammatical, lexical and syntactical knowledge and competence in Spanish language.
- Improve the student’s grammar knowledge by applying the new rules.
The main focus of this course is for students to broaden their knowledge of Spanish language and to get to know its applications and characteristics in different types of texts, namely scientific, journalistic and literary. Special importance will be also attached to the new changes in some of the rules of the Spanish language.
Who is this course for?
This course is for students who have a good knowledge of the language (C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages- Stage H or similar) and who wish to improve their active and passive skills of the language by learning, discussing and enhancing their education of Spanish culture through the medium of Spanish.
Learning and Teaching
The course will be entirely taught in Spanish and with material in Spanish. Besides attendance and participation, the students will carry out a series of assessments relevant to the contents of the module. Other assessments include a short test at the end of the course.
Coursework and Assessment
To award credits we need to have evidence of the knowledge and skills you have gained or improved. Some of this has to be in a form that can be shown to external examiners so that we can be absolutely sure that standards are met across all courses and subjects.
You will not have formal examinations but you may have class tests. You may be asked to write assignments, keep a course journal or put together a portfolio. Our assessments are flexible to suit the course and the student.
The most important element of assessment is that it should enhance your learning. Our methods are designed to increase your confidence and we try very hard to devise ways of assessing you that are enjoyable and suitable for adults with busy lives.
None specific, since it builds up from previous knowledge of the language (Stage H). Materials will be given in class or be available in Learning Central. The students will read texts provided by the lecturer and dealing with the topics in the class. The students will also read three short stories provided by the lecturer.
