Japanese Courses

• Japanese for Beginners I

  This course is aimed at absolute beginners and will introduce students to the Japanese language and culture. Students will learn Hiragana and get ample opportunity to practise basic conversation. The course textbook is Japanese for Busy People, Revised 3rd edition.

• Japanese for Beginners II

  This course is aimed at who have attended Japanese for Beginners I, or have some very basic knowledge of Japanese. It is not appropriate for absolute beginners of the language. The course covers Katakana and some Kanji. A wider range of grammatical structures will also be taught.

• Japanese for Improvers I

  This course is aimed at students who have studied Japanese for one year part-time. In this course students will practise real life situations/dialogues to achieve a higher level in communication with Japanese people. Students will expand their written skills, vocabulary and understanding of the structure of the Japanese language.

• Japanese for Improvers II

  This follow-on course from Japanese for Improvers I will introduce students to a broader but still limited range of oral, aural and written skills, sufficient for practical needs in everyday situations.

• Intermediate Japanese

  This course is aimed at students who have studied Japanese for two years part-time. Students will further improve their speaking, listening and writing skills in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.

• Higher Intermediate Japanese

  This course is aimed at students who have studied Japanese for three years part-time. Students will further improve their speaking, listening and writing skills in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. This course will enable students to use a broader range of oral, aural and written language skills, sufficient to manage a daily interaction in Japan. Students will further develop an understanding on various aspects of the culture of Japan.
