This course is designed to stretch students’ idiomatic vocabulary and knowledge about each theme through discussions, research and presentations. Working individually and in groups, you will be invited to draw on personal interests and experience to support your participation whilst exploring the broadest aspects of the themes. The emphasis of the course is on spoken French. It is ideal to supplement your Staged course and give you this extra opportunity to develop your fluency. Groups are kept small (15 students maximum, often less) and each class is spent talking to other students and the tutor on topics related to current affairs.
Who is this course for?
The emphasis of the course is on participation therefore you will be encouraged to actively participate in class.
Learning and Teaching
This course has no formal assessment. Both your attendance and your participation in class will count towards the credits. Our assessments are flexible to suit the course and the student. The most important element of assessment is that it should enhance your learning. Our methods are designed to increase your confidence and we try very hard to devise ways of assessing you that are enjoyable and suitable for adults with busy lives.
Coursework and Assessment
To award credits we need to have evidence of the knowledge and skills you have gained or improved. Some of this has to be in a form that can be shown to external examiners so that we can be absolutely sure that standards are met across all courses and subjects. You will not have formal examinations but you may have class tests. You may be asked to write assignments, keep a course journal or put together a portfolio.
