This course is aimed at absolute beginners and will introduce students to Mandarin Chinese language.
The emphasis will be on developing speaking and listening skills as well as getting to know Chinese culture.
You do not have any previous knowledge of the Chinese language in order to join this course. Anyone who wishes to develop some basic skills of communication in Chinese, either for the purpose of career development or personal satisfaction, is welcomed to enrol.

Learning and teaching
Apart from face-to-face teaching sessions, you will have access to on-line courseware, to review what you have learned. You will be encouraged to take an active part in dialogues, group discussions and other interactive language exercises in class.
Coursework and assessment
To award credits we need to have evidence of the knowledge and skills you have gained or improved.
Some of this has to be in a form that can be shown to external examiners so that we can be absolutely sure that standards are met across all courses and subjects.
In this regard, there will be a written class test at the end of the course, to examine what you have learned, but the overall assessment result is also based on your classroom performance during the course.
Our assessments are flexible to suit the course and the students.
The most important element of assessment is that it should enhance your learning.
Our methods are designed to increase your confidence and we try very hard to devise ways of assessing you that are enjoyable and suitable for adults with busy lives.
