Languages

The new School of Modern Languages came into existence at Cardiff University on 1st August 2014. All of the languages courses that were offered previously by the Centre for Lifelong Learning will now be academically managed and taught by staff in the School of Modern Languages.

In our modern languages programme we offer you a vast range of languages and levels. To increase the choice we have overhauled our programme to introduce new levels and new courses which will give you a greater opportunity to target your language learning to skills you might need i.e. many students have asked for speaking courses which are now also available within our evening programme. This will make the language programme more flexible and vibrant.

After the first successful year for our Pathways into degrees, to be fully integrated into the new School of Modern Languages will also give us the opportunity to offer you a wider choice of entry into degrees in Modern Languages and Translation.

We are also very proud of being an accredited examination centre for international language qualifications in French, German, Italian, Mandarin and Spanish.

Please refer to the language table for advice on different levels. Should you have any concerns or queries, please contact our Co-ordinator of Part-time and Pathways Programmes, Helga Eckart (Eckart@cardiff.ac.uk).
