Cardiff Centre for Lifelong Learning Bursary Scheme 2013/14
The Cardiff Centre for Lifelong Learning is making available a limited number of bursaries from September 2010. These will provide financial support for students from lower income backgrounds, and in particular those who are not eligible for other schemes such as the Student Fee Waiver Scheme, who are enrolled on particular programmes (see below).
Who will be eligible for the bursaries?
The Cardiff Centre for Lifelong Learning Bursaries are available to students who meet all the following criteria:
They are normally resident in the UK
They are liable personally for paying course fees (e.g. those eligible for, or claiming, the HEFCW Student Fee Waiver are therefore not eligible).
They are in receipt of one of the following means-tested benefits :
- Universal Credit;
- Income Support;
- Housing Benefit;
- Job Seekers Allowance;
- Council Tax Reduction;
- Working Tax Credits
(Evidence supplied to support receipt of these benefits will need to be dated within 6 weeks prior to the start of the course.)
They are enrolled on one or more of the courses within one of our Pathways Programme: “Exploring the Past”, “Social Science”, “Modern Languages”, “Translation”, “Business Management”, “Accounting” or “Accounting and Finance”
They are enrolled on a relevant Widening Access course:
- Crossing the Threshold
- Introduction to Public Service Interpreting
- Advanced English for Public Service Interpreting
- Communication Skills for Second Language English Speakers
- Public Service Interpreting – Health
- Public Service Interpreting – Law
- DPSI Legal Translation Courses
- DPSI Health Translation Courses
How much will the bursaries be worth?
The value of the bursaries will be 80% of the course fee paid, up to 60 credits in an academic year.
How do I apply?
Applications should be made by filling out the Centre’s Bursary application form. You can download the bursary application form here. You should be notified of the outcome of the application within 1 week of submission. Payment will be in the form of a cheque.
