You have the opportunity to gain a Foundation Certificate in Business and Management Studies with 60 credits from any of the courses in this section. The Joint Foundation Certificate with a Language offers students the chance to take an exciting combination of courses. Business and Management Courses
International Marketing
International marketing involves recognising that people all over the world have different needs. This course will help you understand how to develop profitable international business by adopting known marketing principles.
Leadership
This course on Leadership provides an introduction to relevant theories of leadership and management and helps develop new leadership skills and abilities. Leaders can better manage processes, resources and change and facilitate effective communication and performance. Upon completion of this course, all participants will be able to assess their own leadership ability and practice more effectively.
Management and Organisational Behaviour
The course is designed to assist students to develop their existing or potential management skills. Key aspects of the modern organisational management of people and activities such as motivation, change management and ethics are considered. The course provides an introduction to the structure and context of organisations and effective communication within them.
Managing Finance - Interpreting Accounts
You will gain an understanding of interpreting pre-existing accounts and their limitations. The course will also guide students through procedures to understand how businesses are financed.
Managing Finance I
Managers and employers at all levels need to be competent at a level of financial management. This course is designed to help students understand the financial aspects required to run the business/department. No prior knowledge is required. Please pre-enrol.
Managing Finance II
This course provides a further study of financial statements, planning and control and other financial management techniques. Students should have completed Managing Finance I, or have a prior knowledge of accounting. Please pre-enrol.
Managing People I
This course focuses on skills needed to effectively manage people. It is valuable both to those new to management and those who wish to develop and improve their management practice. Key skills such as delegation, motivation, communication, leadership, team-building and managing conflict will be explored in a practical way.
Managing People II
This course is provided in response to demand. It builds on themes introduced in Managing People I and supports the development of the manager or supervisor to perform to their maximum potential. The course will expand knowledge, skills and practice to a highly professional level. Pre-enrolment advised.
Marketing for Beginners
A practical, introductory marketing course covering all the basics of marketing theory, communications, research methods and marketing planning. The course will teach you strategies to enable you to become more customer focused. Please pre-enrol, this course is extremely popular.
Professional Leadership and Personal Management
You will explore the importance of both leadership and management in the professional world. You will examine leadership and management theories alongside case studies exploring real-life challenges facing today’s professional leaders. Project Management

Strategic Business Analysis
On this course you will look at the role of strategy in the three sectors: private, public and voluntary. You will also study definitions of strategy and its role in targeting competitive advantage. You will examine the various stages of the strategy and change process emphasizing the role and responsibility of all members of an organisation in it.
Strategic Marketing
