Postdoctoral Research Associate in Pharmacy


DURATION: Fixed-term contract for 18 months

THE JOB/ROLE: This is an exciting opportunity for a post doctorate level Research Associate to work on a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP), managing a high profile, strategic project for GAMA Healthcare Ltd, whilst being supported by Cardiff University. We are looking to appoint a well-organised, highly motivated individual to take the lead role in a project that aims to establish and develop novel strategy for the control of hospital acquired infections notably against bacterial biofilms. An important aspect of this challenging role will focus on developing advanced intelligent test design against microbial biofilms, combining embedding technology at GAMA Healthcare and producing sufficient test results for new products whilst educating the regulators and customers with new test technologies, notably the need for testing against microbial biofilm. You will not only be concerned with basic microbiology, but also formulation science and product development. 

THE COMPANY: You will be employed by Cardiff University but will work both in the Pharmaceutical Microbiology laboratories at the Cardiff School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, and at the global company, GAMA Healthcare Ltd, which will involve travel between Cardiff and London.  GAMA Healthcare is a dynamic company specialising in manufacturing and distributing unique, innovative products within the healthcare industry.  It’s mission is to remain the UK market leader in its field. THE CANDIDATE: PhD in Pharmaceutical, Microbiology, Chemistry or related disciplines. The candidate will have proven interest in product development and previous experience of working in microbiology.  The candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an inquisitive, problem solving mind. The candidate will be able to work independently and proactively, where leadership qualities will be required and developed.

SALARY AND PACKAGE: The salary will be circa £28,000 -£36,000 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting allowance) depending on qualifications and experience. The rewards package includes an additional £3,000 personal training and development budget and a substantial travel budget.
