Our location

In September 2018 we will move from Bute Building to a new state-of-the-art home in Cardiff’s Central Square development.

Our current address

School of Journalism, Media and Culture
Cardiff University
Bute Building, King Edward VII Avenue
CF10 3NB

The Bute Building is based at the University's Cathays Park campus and is one of the Portland stone buildings situated on the tree lined avenues that form Cardiff's civic centre.

No. 2 Central Square

Our move to No. 2 Central Square will place us alongside local and national media companies including broadcaster BBC Cymru/Wales.

The relocation will build stronger industry links, boosting our students’ employability by providing direct access to major media organisations within journalism as well as the creative and cultural industries.

CGI - BBC and JOMEC building

The Central Square development is being constructed on the site previously occupied by Cardiff’s bus gyratory, just outside of Cardiff Central train station.

Architects IBI were commissioned to design the layout and interior design of the School, which will feature:

  • Four lecture theatres including a 300-seat lecture theatre
  • Five seminar rooms
  • Dedicated library space
  • Six newsrooms
  • TV and radio studios
  • Innovation and computer labs
  • Editing suites
  • Postgraduate research space
  • Social staircase
Stuart Allan
