Artvaark transforms a printed arts-listings programme into a community-driven digital platform. It combines personalised content and community participation in a way that brings arts organisations and their communities closer together. The collaboration will produce a platform to incentivise user engagement digitally, and investigate the sustainability of an on-demand option for print programmes.
About the project team
TinCan is a web development agency with 10 years experience in the arts and cultural sector, they have worked on dozens of projects redeveloping the online presence of arts cultural venues (from the ICA in London, to Horsecross in Perth, from the Liverpool Philharmonic to Chapter in Cardiff). Projects range from backend development (database design, content management systems and information management) to design and user experience.
Glyn Mottershead, from the School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies (JOMEC) at Cardiff University, is a lecturer in digital journalism and specialises in communities within digital networks. As a former production journalist Glyn has extensive experience of designing print products, content creation and usability, as well as taking print products to market.
Chapter is one of Europe’s largest arts centres and is dedicated to developing contemporary culture, nurturing independent voices and providing public access to the arts. It is a meeting place for ideas, inspiration and innovation creating an international platform in an open, local context. Chapter is home to a community of over 50 creative industries partners, cultural services providers and national agencies. It attracts over 800,000 annual visitors. It developed the first points based loyalty card in a cultural context, which has subsequently become 'a world class initiative'.
