New economics and financial journalism scholarship for MA in Journalism

The successful candidate will specialise in economics and business journalism

The Wincott Foundation will this year offer a scholarship for a postgraduate student intending to pursue a career in business, economics and financial journalism.

The scholarship, which will cover the full cost of the course fees, is open to those who have successfully applied for a broadcast, magazine or newspaper place on the School’s MA in Journalism.

In addition to the MA in Journalism’s core modules such as Law for Journalists, Online Journalism and Public Administration the recipient will attend the finance based module Reporting Business, Finance and Economics and will also have a specialist subject tutor.

The successful candidate will be expected to specialise in economics and business journalism during the year and choose a business and economics theme for the end of year MA project.

The scholarship is open to any student with a degree in economics, business or economics-related subjects (such as politics or economic history). Potential candidates will be interviewed by the School and the Wincott Foundation after they have been accepted for the MA in Journalism.

Established in 1969, the Wincott Foundation was set up to support and encourage high quality economic, financial and business journalism. It is best known for its annual presentation of awards for outstanding achievement in economic and financial journalism to journalists and media organisations in the UK.

Further details of the Scholarship are available on the School’s scholarships pages. For application queries please contact Beccy Harris HarrisRL@cardiff.ac.uk otherwise for further details of the scholarship itself please contact Professor Richard Tait TaitR@cardiff.ac.uk
