Build a Business winners - He Huang and Qiong Liu
Two students from the School's International Public Relations & Global Communications Management Masters have won the Students’ Union Build a Business competition.
Postgraduate students Qiong Liu and He Huang were named as the winners of the “Dragons’ Den” style competition on Monday January 30th.
The competition was open to all students at the University who were asked to come up with a business plan, fitting the criteria of student benefit, cost effectiveness and uniqueness.
Each group had two minutes to present their ideas to a panel of “dragons”. The first prize was an ipad2, donated by Apple Education.
The results were announced by the chair of the dragons’ panel, Paul Ragan, one of Channel 4’s Secret Millionaires.
Qiong and He’s business plan is called “MyBox”, a business retail model that allows students to run their own business easily during the academic year with little invested cost.
Having presented their ideas to the dragons, they were totally unaware they had won. “I wasn’t really sure our presentation went well, and then we got called for the first prize,” Qiong said. “I was very surprised.”
Qiong and He are now in contact with relevant organizations to make their winning business idea become a reality.
