Postgraduate Scholarship in Business and Economics Journalism at Cardiff

The Wincott Foundation has awarded its inaugural Postgraduate Scholarship in Business and Economics Journalism at Cardiff’s Centre of Journalism to Catherine Snowdon, a Law graduate of Exeter University.

The new venture between Wincott and Cardiff is intended to develop excellence in financial and business journalism. The scholarship will pay Catherine’s MA in Broadcast Journalism tuition fees, together with specialist modules and projects in business and economics reporting.

Catherine, who has worked in London and New York for Euromoney and is currently the news editor of Central Banking.com, part of Incisive Media said “The award will help me pursue my passion for economics journalism at one of the top journalism schools in Europe and I am looking forward very much to making the most of this great opportunity”.

Sir Geoffrey Owen, chair of the Wincott Foundation and former editor of the Financial Times, said: “The Wincott Foundation’s purpose is to promote and recognise excellence in economic, business and financial journalism.

“We believe our scholarship will encourage some of the brightest and the best graduates in the UK and across the EU to choose a career in business and financial journalism and to ensure that the very best professional training is available regardless of the student’s means”.
