An International Public Relations lecture

International Public Relations will be re-named to include Global Communications Management

From September 2011 the school’s highly successful and professionally accredited ‘International Public Relations’ Masters degree will be re-named: ‘International Public Relations and Global Communications Management’.

The new name reflects the significant importance of communications management within the public relations field and addresses the changing nature of the global communications industry.

Celebrating the tenth year of the course, director, Elliot Pill, said: “The addition of Global Communications Management to the course title allows us to explore, on both a theoretical and practical level, the emerging relationship between journalism, public relations, marketing, advertising and new media on a global scale.”

He added: “Our global alumni, industry contacts and academic colleagues have given us great feedback on changes in the fast moving communications industry and we felt this was the right time to take the course to the next level.

"We will maintain our unique mix of applying theory to practice in these new areas and we look forward to developing the next wave of global communications talent across the next ten years.”

The changes will take effect from September 2011 and all new applications for the MA International Public Relations programme will be considered as applying for the MA International Public Relations and Global Communications Management programme.
