Last month students from the Magazine Diploma secured their first ever press-passes to London Fashion Week.

Dena Mohamed, Laura Jones and Ffion Haf Lewis are part of the team creating ivy, a new women's magazine for sustainable and ethical fashionistas, and they travelled to London for the special Esthetica showcase that exclusively featured ethical and sustainable fashion.

As well as getting great content for their April issue of ivy, it was also a dream come true for the trainee magazine journalists.

Dena explains, "Celebrities and paparazzi surround fashion week, and to the untrained eye it may just be a place to spot the most desired celebrities, but London Fashion Week 2010 was completely different to everything I’d ever experienced before.

"Ethical and sustainable fashion designers in the Esthetica range were inspiring and different. Making my way around the designers, I found that each was completely different to the next, all using sustainable materials, whether they were recycled fabrics or wool-spun by themselves.

"After all the hard work of walking in heels, we made a dash to try and find some freebies as most people seemed to have some. We failed, but did bump into celebrities such as Joe McElderry, The Saturdays and Peaches Geldof, and I took it all in my stride, only asking for a few pictures for our magazine, ivy.

"But what made my whole London Fashion Week experience was when my shoes were papped by a style blogger - this was the highlight of my day, week and year combined. I hope that as my career progresses, I get the chance to experience London Fashion Week next year, and for many more years to come."
