Broadcast magazine, the leading title for the broadcast industry, has named 2006 Diploma in Journalism graduate Hannah Emerson-Thomas in its annual review of TV’s most talented directors, producers and news journalists.
The 50 Hot Shots named by Broadcast represent professionals who have demonstrated a new skill-set geared to the needs of today’s multiplatform media industry as well as the traditional abilities: to remain calm under pressure, to become part of a team, and to demonstrate an appetite for hard work.
Hannah, who was named in the News category, leads the team at ITV’s evening regional news programme London Tonight, where she decides the running order, manages breaking news and oversees the scripts and packages.
In addition to the evening programme, Hannah oversees the lunchtime bulletin where she has covered stories such as the general election where she commissioned maps, graphics and title sequences.
Broadcast Director Colin Larcombe, who trained Hannah while at Cardiff commented: “It’s great to see Hannah’s skills being recognized by the broadcast industry as being of the highest standard.
“Hannah’s position at ITV is a great example of where our current students could be in a three or four years’ time. Congratulations Hannah.”
All candidates were nominated by their bosses with the finalists selected by Broadcast’s editorial team.
