BA Degree to change its name in 2010 to 'Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies'
Monday, November 09, 2009
The name of the BA programme at Cardiff School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies will officially change with the arrival of next year’s undergraduate students to ‘Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies’.
The change from "Journalism, Film and Media" has been made to better describe the degree’s content in the years to come, particularity with the introduction of new second year modules.
The move will also remove any possible confusion for students looking for “Film Studies”, typically a practical element, which as time progresses will not be an accurate representation of the degree.
The new degree name also simplifies the application process as the School’s name and the name of the degree will be the same.
Students who enrolled in September this year will be the last year to graduate with the current name "Journalism, Film and Media" in 2012.
Below, Dr John Jewell, Director of Undergraduate Studies explains the reasons behind the change.
