Bloomberg and Reuters offer internships to graduates

Bloomberg and Reuters have offered internships to Cardiff graduates.
Bloomberg and Reuters were just two of the national and international news organisations to offer internships to Cardiff School of Journalism Media and Cultural Studies graduates this year.
Huw Thomas, a graduate of the Diploma in Journalism and Charles Duxbury, a graduate of the postgraduate Masters in International Journalism, will both begin internships with business and financial news agency Bloomberg, while Will James, also a graduate of the Masters in International Journalism will begin his internship at the international news agency Reuters.
Will James, who followed the newspaper pathway, was invited for a three hour interview having submitted an assignment and newspaper story. Having been handed a six page speech, Will delivered the winning news story inside the 30 minute deadline.
Will said "The course gave me a great head-start at the assessment day. The newspaper pathway had given me practical experience of writing to very tight deadlines and interpreting the facts of a story in the most appropriate way for the reader.
"I'm really excited to have the opportunity to test the practical skills I have learnt on the course in a real-world environment."
Huw Thomas became one of only two broadcast news interns to gain a place this year at Bloomberg having completed an online application form which then led to a 10 minute telephone interview before progressing to a two and a half hour assessment day. After passing these steps Huw then passed a final face-to-face interview.
Before beginning his ten week stint Huw said "My diploma from Cardiff has opened doors that would have remained firmly shut without it.
"I have little doubt that the skills and experience I gained during the diploma have provided me with opportunities that would have otherwise been out of my reach."
