Eco Champion Challenges Waste
Friday, November 16, 2007
BA and PhD Administrative Assistant Hannah Peters was recently appointed School (JOMEC) Eco-Champion.
The role although in its early stages will be mirrored throughout the Schools of Cardiff University.
Its main aim is to challenge existing wasteful practices and develop greener habits. Blue Bins have been distributed throughout the school in an effort to increase the amount of waste products that can be recycled.
Hannah says “The Blue Bins represent an opportunity to re-cycle much more than paper. Plastic and glass bottles, cardboard, tins, toner cartridges and even the Yellow Pages can be collected”.
”I’d like to ask all members of staff and students to place a bin in their office, lecture room or lab. There are no limits for where we can place them.”
This week Hannah ensured the JOMEC Technical Office received their Blue Bin.
Owain Jones took receipt of the bin. He said, “It is great to be able to Re-cycle more, I might get another!”
For more information and to receive a Blue Bin please contact Hannah directly petersh@cardiff.ac.uk, Ext. 74041.
Blue Bins are collected weekly by University services.
