Cultural Theory Reading Group
The Cultural Theory Reading Group meets weekly in the Graduate Centre to discuss leading cultural theorists and movements.
The focus is on reading primary texts rather than secondary accounts. The group is friendly, very informal and open to all in the PhD community. Meetings last around 2 hours (and are often continued in the bar afterwards).
Over the first year, the group looked at a diverse range of thinkers – Marx, Gramsci, Freud, Adorno, Benjamin, Saussure, the Russian Formalists, Barthes, Eco, Derrida, Baudrillard and Said to name just a few.
There is a growing list of writers and movements people want to look at in the future - what we read depends on what the group decides week by week.
So come along and join us. For details of the group and the next meeting please use the contact information below.
