David English is Director of the newspaper option of the postgraduate Diploma/MA, he teaches news gathering, political reporting and sports reporting. He also teaches the postgraduate Public Administration for Journalists module.

Biography
David read Modern History at Oxford University where he was awarded the Broomfield Memorial prize for his thesis on popular rebellions in British history. He trained as a journalist with Thomson Regional Newspapers (now Trinity Mirror), initially on the Belfast Telegraph and then The Journal, Newcastle. He moved to Cardiff as Public Administration tutor at the Thomson Editorial Training Centre and joined the Centre for Journalism Studies at Cardiff University in 1980.
He is deputy director of the Centre for Journalism. He has been a member of Cardiff Council and has co-authored a textbook on public administration for journalists.
