Since completing her PhD in 2013, Dr Rachel Cohen has worked as an Associate Lecturer at JOMEC, co-ordinating and facilitating a new module that she designed for the school, entitled Popular Music and Identity. She is currently working on additional publications based on her PhD, and will be presenting papers at a number of conferences over the coming months.  

Research Interests

  • Psychosocial and “psychocultural” approaches to media audience studies, used to explore audience engagements with/investments in film and in popular music
  • Language and communication in forensic (legal) contexts
  • Forensic psychotherapy – recently secured funding via the University’s Strategic Insight Programme to undertake a placement at the Tavistock and Portman Clinic in London
