CardiffMail *at risk* for all users and some loss of service for IMAP users - Friday, 27th April, 17.30 - 20.30

What is being done? 

Upgrade of CardiffMail servers

 

When is it being done? 

This will take place on Friday, 27th April 2012, 17.30 - 20.30

 

Who will be affected? 

All users of CardiffMail (at risk) and all users of the IMAP service (some outage)

 

How will users be affected? 

CardiffMail should be considered to be running at risk for all users.

 

IMAP users will experience some loss of service during this period, and are encouraged to use CardiffMail-Web (https://cardiffmail.cf.ac.uk) during these times.  Any IMAP messages received during the outages will be queued, and will be delivered as normal once service is restored.  Sending messages from an IMAP client will not be affected during these times.

 

Why is it being done? 

To upgrade servers that are now out of warranty.
