Information Services has triumphed in this year's Cardiff Cycle Challenge, winning the prize in the category for organisations with 500 or more members of staff.
Information Services claimed first place with 12.1% of staff members participating in the Challenge. The Environment Agency Wales claimed second place (with 10.5% participation), followed by Admiral Insurance in third place (with 7.2% participation).
Cyclists from the Directorate logged 2,685.8 miles in 667 cycle trips, saving 588kg of CO2, and burning off 83,259 calories – equivalent to 794.2 KitKats!
"Taking part in the Cardiff Cycle Challenge has definitely encouraged our staff to get on their bikes more often, and really reminded them of the joys of cycling," said Valerie Greer of Information Services.
"This is a great achievement for Information Services staff," added Chris Dickson, Information Services Eco Champion. "Our thanks go to Valerie Greer and Paul Rock for organising our participation. Hopefully this will further raise awareness of cycling as an important, healthy and more sustainable form of transport."
