Welsh maps collection (19th-20th C.)
The collection includes various editions of physical geography maps of Wales in the Ordnance Survey series and from other sources. The scales of the OS maps range from 1:63,360 and 1:50,000 for the Wales series, to 1:2,500 and 1:1,250 for the industrial south Wales areas, plus a reprint of the original OS 19th C. series of 1 inch to 1 mile.
Date range: 19th-20th centuries.
Significance: Significant in Wales.
Strengths: Glamorgan and Gwent.
Size: C. 10,000 maps.

Notes: A specific set of geology maps etc. are held in the Earth/Ocean Sciences department, with around 3,000 maps in total.
