Staff / alumni personal collections (Jarman, Ashton, Lewis, Thomas, Mathias, Carter) (16th-20th C.)
Several personal book collections from previous members of staff or alumni of Cardiff University, acquired via contacts in the School of Welsh mainly. The collections are strong in material related to Wales, its language, history, literature, and Celtic studies.
Glyn Ashton (1919-1991), Keeper of the Salisbury Library, and Lecturer.
A. O. H. Jarman (1911-1998), professor of Welsh at the University College of Cardiff.
Aneurin Lewis, Keeper of the Salisbury Library, and Lecturer.
W. Alun Mathias (1940s-1990s), member of the Education Department at the University College of Cardiff. His collection includes books and pamphlets on Welsh history and church history.
Dr Ceinwen Thomas, lecturer in the Department of Welsh (1970s-1980s).
Mr R. Carter (alumnus), History Department, and ex-WJEC (1970s).
Also associated with the collection are several Cardiff University staff members’ personal archives.
