Documents on German foreign policy (1930-1941)

This collection contains English translations of diplomatic papers (letters, memoranda, circulars, inter-departmental reports, ambassadorial correspondence and minutes) and military documents captured from the archives of the German Foreign Ministry and the Reich Chancellery. The Library holds Series C (Volumes 1-6) which covers the first phase of the Third Reich (January 1930-November 1937) and Series D (Volumes 1-12) covering the years from 1937 to December 11 1941 (when Germany declared war following the bombing of Pearl Harbour). All the known letters of Hitler and Mussolini during the period are published as well as Führer Directives even though some are almost completely tactical and have little foreign policy content. (18 volumes, published 1949-1983).
