Monumenta Germaniae Historica (c. 500-1500)

The Monumenta Germaniae Historica is regarded as one most the important resources of critically edited primary sources of medieval Europe. The collection is divided into five major series, Scriptores, Leges, Diplomata, Epistolae and Antiquitates; the Library holds titles belonging mostly to the Scriptores and the Antiquitates series. The volumes held contain medieval texts, mostly in Latin but some in German, relating to France, Italy, Denmark, Poland and Great Britain, as well as to Germany and Central Europe, dating from between 500-1500 AD. They cover topics such as the Crusades, saints, theology, literature and poetry, and history. (49 volumes, published 1846-1998).
